Term 1 Week 3
Rollerblading is a sport that I encourage everyone to learn. I’ve taken it up during the holidays and I feel that it will eventuate in many benefits.

During the November and December holidays, I spent at least five days a week on competition preparation. Knowing we had very little time, my teammates and I met up almost everyday, we would meet each other at the leader’s house at nine in the morning and would stay there till six. As often as our parents allow, we would have dinner together too, which means an additional three hours together. Many teenagers would refer to this as “no life”. I surmise they would think that no one in the right mind is willing to do such a thing, but we are.
Of course, in between the tight schedule are leisure times and times to do our holiday homework. For lunch, we will either go to Parkway Parade or Bedok. We do not go there by car, bus or other types of vehicles. Yes, we go there by our roller blades or bicycles. We spend a maximum of half and hour and twenty minutes to go to Parkway Parade and Bedok respectively. We really had lots of fun together. While we exercise, we get to our destination, save the environment as well as have fun.

After this meaningful holiday, I’ve not only learnt a new and interesting sport but also bonded even closer to my friends. I will encourage everyone to take up rollerblading; it gives you your dosage of exercise and also brings you closer to nature as most people like to roller blade at parks. It will improve your balancing skills and encourage you to dare to try things that may look scary, but are not. Formally, I thought of rollerblading as a rather extreme sport that may jeopardize my life. I’ve fallen three times since and am no longer afraid to fall. Actually, it’s not that scary, or painful to fall! Cryptic, right? Many things seem really scary at first, like owning up to something. But once you pluck up your courage and do it, ultimately, you will tell yourself, “Hey, I can do this!”

MY WORLD.
